Our trip to Sri Lanka in November 2010 was arranged over the internet with Amila Salgado, an excellent bird guide who runs the locally based tour company Birdwing Nature Tours. We started at kithulgala then moved on to Martin’s Simple Lodge in Sinharaja Forest Reserve and then Udawalawe National park. Then we based ourselves in a hotel at Tissamaharama, from where we visited Bundala, Lunugamvehera and Yala National Parks, before moving on to higher altitudes at Nuwara Eliya and the Horton Plains National Park. Our final destination was the comfortable Ging Oya Lodge near Waikkala on the west coast.
