Falklands Islands 2018

We flew to the Falklands from Brize Norton courtesy of the RAF, re-fuelling at the Cape Verde Islands. Our trip, organised by Libby Weir-Breen of “Island Holidays” started in Stanley, the capital, before flying to Port Howard on the east coast of West Falkland. From there we flew to Sea Lion Island which lies 14 km off the south coast of East Falkland and the whole island is a National Nature Reserve. Our next destination was Carcass Island off the north coast of West Falkland. Whilst there we had a day trip to West Point Island to visit a nesting colony of Black-browed Albatrosses and Rockhopper Penguins. The trip ended with a return to Stanley and an excursion to Volunteer Point to vist a King Penguin colony.
