 :
We visited Cuba in late January/early February 2014 as part of a group of 12 on a trip organised by Josele Saiz who founded the Boletas Birdwatching Centre based in the Spanish Pyrenees. Josele led the trip supported by two expert local guides; Orestes Martinez for birds and Raynier Nunez for butterflies. After a night in Havana, we set off for the Hotel Rancho San Vicente in the Vinales region, visiting the Nina Bonita Reservoir and Soroa on the way. We then moved on to the Zapata National Park, using the Hotel Playa Larga on the coast as a base. Our next destination was a private ranch, Finca La Belen in the Camaguey province, from where we visited Laguna Blanca and Najasa Nature Reserve before moving to a holiday resort hotel at Cayo Coco on the north coast.
